Are you experiencing panic attacks?

Are you experiencing panic attacks?Caryn Hess published an article on Psychology Everywhere, discussing panic attacks and how they can be treated.

Having just one panic attack is not panic disorder, although it may be due to an anxiety disorder. If panic attacks continue, however, that can be indicative of a panic disorder. Panic attacks can be triggered by worry, medications, or even an internal symptom such as feeling hot or flushed. Caryn writes,

If you have suffered a panic attack you would likely go out of your way to avoid having another one. […] This is not a good situation, as the more you allow the panic disorder to guide where you go and what you do, the less control you have over your life.

When you avoid potential triggers, you can become more and more isolated, and overly cautious, in your attempt to avoid triggering another panic attack. Therapy can help you improve your response to anxiety.
